Midichlorian

OK. Now what I’m wondering, based on my on this whole Midichlorian issue, is exactly what are they? According to this passage from “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace” novelization by Terry Brooks :

The boy nodded his understanding. “Can I ask you something?” The Jedi Master nodded. “What are midi-chlorians?” Wind whipped at Qui-Gon’s long hair, blowing strands of it across his strong face. “Midi-chlorians are microscopic life-forms that reside within the cells of all living things and communicate with the Force.” “They live inside of me?” the boy asked. “In your cells.” Qui-Gon paused. “We are symbionts with the midi-chlorians.” “Symbi-what?” “Symbionts. Life-forms living together for mutual advantage. Without the midi-chlorians, life could not exist, and we would have no knowledge of the Force. Our midi-chlorians continually speak to us, Annie, telling us the will of the Force.”

Now.  We know that midi-chlorians are microscopic “life-forms”, residing within the cellular level of a host enitity.  So the possibility still exists that they are actually nanobots.  Nobody appears to know that they are nanobots, so they would have needed to be created long ago.  Possibly by a yet un-revealed race that preceeded both the Jedi and the Sith. Nanobots that were systematically integrated into the genetic makeup of everything in the “galaxy” to bind together the unlimited potentials of Unified Field Theory, Quantum Theory and String Theory into a “Force” that could be tapped into by any host that could be successfully symbiotic with nanotechnology.

So, if these Midichlorians are, in fact, nanobots, it is completely possible that they COULD interface with R2-D2 (or any other droid for that matter). I emphasize could because it would be assuming that simply because it is robotic, that the nanobot could figure out how to interface with any other robotic entity. Since we are sort of assuming that the nanobotic Midichlorians predate everyone in Episode I, if is logical that the nanobot OS and programming language is COMPLETELY different.

This ALL assumes facts that don’t exist in the movies, so I’m still skeptical.  But I do hold out some hope that this might be address in the upcoming Disney version of Star Wars Episode VII.

What do you think?  Leave a comment or email me.
